Bramfield Meats & KW Clarke Butchers - Halesworth, Suffolk

STC Supply Retail Scales and Install CCTV System at Factory for Long-standing Butcher in Halesworth

Background

K W Clarke Butchers have been serving customers in the community since the early 1900s, operating from a shop in the village. Bramfield Meats is a cutting & curing facility operating from premises close by in Halesworth, Suffolk.

Supply and Installation of M-Series Scales at Shop

In 2012, Jeremy Thickitt needed to purchase some additional retail scales as the two old machines in the KW Clarke retail butchers were beyond their useful lives.

He chose STC as we had assisted in the supply of scales at the Emmerdale Farm Shop, another business which he owns, and we installed three fully re-conditioned Avery Berkel M series scales.

These were linked together and provide a seamless Cash Control and Price Look-Up (PLU) scale system. The Avery Berkel M Series are the scale of choice for many butchers because they are reliable, robust and lightning fast with excellent functionality.

Supply and Installation of Factory CCTV System

At the same time we began discussing Jeremy’s requirements for replacing some old CCTV cameras which our previous company, Deben Systems had supplied in the early 2000's. In 2012 we were awarded the supply contract for the new system which was dependent upon a new office block being built which was subject to planning permission.

We began the installation during the summer of 2012 by installing a new Vista Quantum recorder and some external cameras, and have revisited the site on further occasions to install more cameras. The final phase was completed in early 2013.

This has resulted in a spreading of the cost for their business but with the major benefit of being able to view the cameras remotely via the internet from day one.

We liaised carefully with Mark Potter, Jeremy’s site manager, and in order to reduce their costs they installed all the cable themselves.

Marks commented that the system was designed and installed by a professional team from start to finish and that the engineers worked closely with the business, installing at times that did not affect their production.

The cameras installed with two 16 position monitors give them a comprehensive view of every part of their business from one position. This gives them peace of mind with security, health/safety and welfare of staff there on site at any given time.

"A job well done!"
